New Beginnings

Today is the first day of the beginning of our blogging life here at Nestucca Bay Yarns.

We will do our best to update regularly and add in lots of pictures for your viewing pleasure.

I think this will be a fun addition to our website as well as the shop in general. Welcome all
to our little yarn shop world!

Today is Friday and I will be at work hopefully before 10am so that I can get some business things taken care of before the doors open.

This is Valentines Day weekend and also Presidents Day on Monday, it is so nice to have a National Holiday coupled with Valentines Day, a day for lovers to celebrate their love. The shop should be bustling all weekend with folks getting away to the beach for the weekend. Which is really nice for us as February seems to be a bit of a bleak month here at Nestucca Bay.

We have been busily working on our newsletter which is kind of morphing into a catalog as well.

Tara does the layout for the Newsletter and she does a great job. We have wanted to produce a catalog for a long time and this is a good way to kind of work towards that goal. We may have to produce the newsletter twice a year instead of four times a year as it is very expensive to print and mail, but it is a fun endeavor.

I "danceswithyarns" the main dyer for NBYarns have been planning new colorways for the sock club as well as for the shop. We have two new yarns. One is our Kelp sock/fingering yarn that has been in the shop for sale for a while but not on the website yet. it is a Merino/Bamboo/nylon blend. It is quickly becoming our most popular sock yarn. Our other new yarn is a Merino/Alpaca/Silk blend that is a worsted weight yarn, oh, this yarn is just wonderful! Jerri aka; Splasheswithdyes and I will be busily dyeing up several new colorways and some semi-solids as well.

I have been knitting A Noble Cowl by Emily Kausalik it is a beautiful lacey cowl knit with Rowan's Wool Cotton, I love this yarn, it is great for showing stitch definition and has a wonderful hand. As soon as it is completed I will post a picture and display it at the shop.

I am also knitting Gunnerside from Rowan's Pure Life British Breeds Collection For Dan, my husband. He has been telling all of my knitting friends that I have NEVER knit a sweater for him, and to my dismay he is right. So he is getting Gunnerside (pictured above).

Ahh, what a beautiful but chilley winter's day today. It should be a nice weekend....
